The 2025 edition of the Stephex Exclusive Breeding Collection Auction once again set the tone for excellence in sport horse breeding. In an atmosphere that blended world-class sport with lifestyle and exclusivity, breeders, riders and investors from across the globe gathered in Wolvertem and online to secure future champions.
The highlight of the evening was the dark bay filly Unlimited Pommex Z (United Touch S x Emerald), born on April 28, 2025. Out of Jeunesse van ’t Paradijs, a mare with a proven CSI5* record under Lorenzo de Luca, and by Olympic star United Touch S, this exceptional foal carries the blood of champions. Unsurprisingly, she captured the attention of international buyers and became the auction’s top-seller, changing hands for an impressive €180,000. Even better, she will remain in Belgium.
Another star of the collection was Clin D’Oeil Pommex Z (Comme il faut x Kannan), born January 16, 2025. With a pedigree rooted in the legendary Comme il Faut and the powerful Kannan line, combined with the proven sport record of dam Kracotte Z, this black brown filly represents the very best of performance breeding. She quickly established herself as one of the most talked-about foals of the evening.
The auction concluded with remarkable results: all foals sold, reaching a total turnover of €730,000 and an average price of €66,363 underlining both the quality of the collection and the trust of buyers worldwide.
Giving back to sport and breeding
Belgium’s showjumping horses are recognised as the best in the world, and that success starts with breeding. Top-level breeding is a craft that demands vision, dedication and, above all, exceptional mares – which are rarer than ever to buy. With the Pommex breeding programme, Stephex ensures that some of its greatest champions, now retired at Haras de la Pomme in Normandy, continue to shape the future of the sport.
For Stephex Group CEO & founder Stephan Conter, the auction is about more than just sales: “I want to share the genes of our very best mares with breeders, because that is where everything begins. This year we deliberately kept the collection small, with just eleven foals, nine of them fillies, to give our clients the chance to build strong breeding programmes of their own. And if you look at results at all the top competitions, you see that 65% of the horses come from Belgium. That says it all.”
