Stephan Conter and Eric Berkhof have joined forces to acquire the iconic competition venue in Grimaud, located just outside Saint-Tropez. The site, which has been under judicial liquidation since 2024, is now being revitalised as a top equestrian destination. Their ambition? To transform it into a lively, international meeting point for top sport, horse passion, and experience.
The venue attracted considerable interest. Ultimately, Conter and Berkhof were entrusted with shaping the future of this unique location. Well known among international showjumpers and fans, Grimaud now has every opportunity to thrive under the leadership of these two forward-thinking entrepreneurs.
Stephan Conter is the founder of Stephex Group, renowned worldwide for its luxury horse trucks, motorhomes, 5* international showjumping events, and top-level sport stable.
Eric Berkhof is the CEO of Van Mossel, one of Europe’s largest automotive groups.
A new vision for 2026
Starting in 2026, the site will host several weeks of international competitions, with a clear vision: to infuse Grimaud with the spirit of a venue where athletes come not only to compete, but also to enjoy and connect.
The current infrastructure no longer meets the standards of modern elite sport. That’s why large-scale renovations will begin immediately, with a strong focus on sustainability. The new facilities will be built using eco-friendly materials, with responsible use of resources, and a firm commitment to equine welfare in every decision. Two brand-new arenas will be constructed, and the overall experience will meet the highest standards of international equestrian sport.
But Grimaud will be more than just a top-tier competition venue. It is designed to create a welcoming, elegant and inspiring place, where riders, horses and visitors can gather, share, and thrive in a respectful and refined environment.

Stephan Conter (BE) founder and CEO of Stephex Group, is a global leader in the equestrian world. From state-of-the-art horse trucks and motorhomes to international 5* events such as the Brussels Stephex Masters and Knokke Hippique, his commitment to innovation, quality and horse welfare is at the core of every project.
Eric Berkhof (NL) is the CEO of Van Mossel Group, one of Europe’s leading automotive companies. He also runs a successful equestrian stable with Dutch Olympic rider Kim Emmen among his team. With the same ambition and long-term focus, he now helps shape this new chapter in Grimaud.
