Since its beginning in 2014, the event has grown to become one of the most prestigious 5* showjumping competitions on the global calendar, drawing elite riders, top-level horses from around the world.
2014 The beginning of a legacy
The first edition of the Brussels Stephex Masters was a big success, attracting over 30,000 visitors. The highlight of the event was the CSIO5* Rolex Grand Prix Presented by Audi, where American rider Kent Farrington emerged victorious, etching his name in history as the first-ever winner of this prestigious class.
2015 American dominance continues
The second edition of the Brussels Stephex Masters proved to be a continuation of American success, with Lucy Davis claiming the CSIO5* Rolex Grand Prix title aboard her horse, Baron. The event continued to build momentum, solidifying its reputation on the international circuit.
2016 A Belgian triumph
Belgium’s own Niels Bruynseels captured the hearts of the home crowd with his victory in the CSIO5* Rolex Grand Prix Presented by Audi, riding Cas De Liberte. This win marked the beginning of Bruynseels’ remarkable journey at the Stephex Grounds.
2017 Belgian riders dominating
With a global budget of 2.7 million euros and a prize fund of 660,000 euros, the Brussels Stephex Masters reached new heights. Niels Bruynseels made history by winning the CSIO5* Rolex Grand Prix for the second consecutive year, further establishing his dominance on home soil.
2018 Fifth edition
The fifth edition saw the event reach new levels of success, with a global budget of 2.5 million euros and participation from 196 riders representing 29 different nationalities. The international appeal of the Brussels Stephex Masters was firmly established, drawing competitors and spectators from across the globe.
2019 Stephex Exclusive Breeding Collection
The Brussels Stephex Masters introduced its first-ever Stephex Exclusive Breeding Collection Auction, adding a new dimension to the event. Niels Bruynseels continued his remarkable streak, winning the CSIO5* Rolex Grand Prix for the third time, a record that remains unchallenged by any other Belgian rider. We also said goodbye to Cornet D’amour and honored him for the last time, what a legend he was.
2021 The return of triumphs
After a cancellation in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Brussels Stephex Masters returned with power. Despite ongoing restrictions, the event was a success.
Jessica Springsteen took victory in the CSIO5* Rolex Grand Prix Presented by Audi, after winning team silver at the Tokyo Olympics in the same year. American rider Jessica Springsteen, fresh off her team silver medal at thge Tokyo Olympics, claimed victory in the CSIO5* Rolex Grand Prix Presented by Audi. This edition also marked the final year of competition on the sand arena.
2022 A new era
The introduction of a grass arena in 2022 was met with great enthusiasm. Nearly 500 horses competed, and the event attracted over 60,000 visitors throughout the week. The change in venue enhanced the competition’s prestige, offering a new experience for both riders and spectators.
2023 Overcoming challenges
The first edition to feature the CSIO5* Henders & Hazel Nations Cup was faced by challenging weather conditions. However, thanks to exceptional organization, the event proceeded without cancellations. The Brussels Stephex Masters also launched exclusive merchandise collaborations, further elevating the brand’s presence.
2024 Let’s celebrate a decade of excellence together
This year, the Brussels Stephex Masters celebrates its 10th edition, promising to deliver another unforgettable experience. A special Kids Day on August 28th will feature a range of activities and entertainment designed for children. The event will also host the 5th edition of the Stephex Exclusive Breeding Collection Auction, the CSIO5* Henders & Hazel Nations Cup on Friday, and the CSIO5* Rolex Grand Prix Presented by Audi on Sunday.
