Thursday’s biggest class in the Top Series CSI3* was the 1.45m Grand Prix qualifier counting for the world ranking presented by Carlsberg. The Belgian riders showed great form, taking both first and second with Thierry Goffinet and Cana van de Blom (Kashmir Van’t Schuttershof x Kannan) leading the way ahead of Jérôme Guery and Kel’Star du Vingt Ponts (Kannan x Landor S). They beat one of the world’s very best, namely Great Britain’s Scott Brash on Hello Franklin (Billy Mexico x Goodtimes), who finished third.
In the 1.40m Top Jumps Prize, home rider Nathan Budd took the win together with Baloubet du Seguine (Baloubet du Rouet x Argentinus). Budd had 0.53 seconds down to runner-up Joseph Clayton (GBR) on Swing de Landetta Z (Stakkato x Leberoi H), while third place went to Jodie Hall McAteer (GBR) on Coquin de Coquerie Z (Consul Dl Vie Z x Fergar Mail).
The 1.35m Scuderia 1918 Prize went to Mexico, and Gonzalo Azcarraga on Haiti Z (Henry Z x Tis Voltaire) who finished phase two of this competition in 25.04 seconds. Patrick McEntee (AZE) followed in 26.40 seconds, riding Best Of Mury Marais Z (Bonaparte Z x Feinschnitt I Z) while home rider Leonie Peeters came in third with Catho (Millar x Voltaire) in 26.90 seconds.
