Friday’s Super Cup CSI2* competitions kicked off with a home win for Koen Vereecke in the 1.45m Equipe Prize, which also counted as a qualifier for the Grand Prix. Set in the main ring Zoute Plage, the course turned out to be a tough one and eventually ten of the 57 horse-and-rider combination managed to answer all the questions asked to deliver clear rounds.
In the jump-off, Vereecke and the 9-year-old mare Donna vd Windeweg Z (Diamant de Semilly x C Indoctro) delivered by far the fastest round of the class when stopping the clock in 36.56 seconds to bring home the top honours to Belgium. Vereecke’s compatriot Max Sebrechts and Cristel (Diamant de Semily x Cento) took care of the runner-up spot with a time of 38.03 seconds, while third place went to Great Britain’s Jessica Mendoza and Dublin (Cobra 18 x Calido I) after the two produced a time of 38.61 seconds.
In the Super Cup 1.35m ClipMyHorse Prize, the Belgian duo of Ines van den Bosch and Laura Mathy took first and second. Ines van den Bosch rode Ecoliene (Warrant x Indoctro) to victory, while Laura Mathy was in the saddle of Gantira (Cassini Gold x breeding unknown) – with almost one second separating the two girls in this Table A competition against the clock. Third place went to USA’s Alex Crown on Basic (Silverstone x Indoctro).
The Super Cup series closed off with another win for Dutch rider Ruben Romp and Gintura (VDL Zirocco Blue x Corland) in the 1.30m Heusdens Schaffer Prize. Only 0.06 seconds separated Romp from USA’s Mimi Gochman on Avoloma BH (Quasimodo Z x Hors La Loi II) while Belgium’s Charline Hendrickx finished third with Halbert V/H Paardeveld (Major de La Cour x Canadian River).
